The Friends of Rocky Glen Park are a group of individuals looking to:

  • Preserve the history, memories, and heritage of our now defunct hometown amusement park.

  • Promote the improvement of the grounds.

  • Promote a future use of the land, which embraces it's past.

Our work has only begun!  So please, join us today!

Identify these photos

Recently located in an eBay auction.  Is this the Sterling arcade which operated at the trolley station prior to the Sterlings acquiring control of part of the park?  Who are the people in the photos.

Launch of RockyGlenFriends.com

The old geocities site is getting spammed like crazy, so I got a domain name and am moving the site over to www.rockyglenfriends.com .  Some features may be changing, and new features will be added.  Stay tuned.  Contributors needed!

Site Remodeling.

As I write this, the site is being remodeled to allow more content to be introduced.  Graphics are being fixed, upgrading to CSS etc.  A whole newsletter just doesn't look feasible, so instead we will feature individual articles.  Look for more detail on the coaster of the park as the first article. Many people are looking for pictures, so also researching a new photo section.

If you would like to write an article, submissions will gladly be accepted and posted.  You don't even have to know HTML, just send me the text in any format, any images you would like to use, and I will gladly make it work.

Update 13 Apr: New guestbook is now in place.  All old posts are archived here:  Guestbook Archive.

Update 13 Apr: NEPAToday forums are also no longer available, but I grabbed the content from Google's cache.  Forum Archive.

Where we are today.

First off, let me apologize for not updating the site in a long time.  I have done some research in the last year or so, and will try to post some of those results soon.

Also, I need to sound a call for help.  I no longer live in NEPA.  In order for the Friends to thrive, we need to establish some leadership in the area.  If you are still in NEPA and want to get involved, please email RockyGlenFriends@yahoo.com to learn what can be done.

Oh, and if anyone has any recent news about the Glen, feel free to pass it along too.  I'm out of the loop at the moment.

The Guest Book rolls over.

So, it turns out that the guestbook can only hold 50 posts.   All the old posts have to be deleted so more could be added.   But don't fear, all the old posts are archived here:

Have you signed the Petition?

Patrick Tighe of Moosic, Pa is leading a petition drive to have the park property condemned by the state, and then convert it into a state or federal park.  Would you like to sign the petition online?

Click here to sign the petition online!

(Petition is suspended due to lack of progress)

What should the future of Rocky Glen Park be?

  • A housing development?

  • A new Amusement Park?

  • A National or State Park?

Join the conversation at NEPA Today Forums, and talk about it!

NEPA forums closed... but I archived the discussion here.
